Madrid, the other “M” city we visited in 2017

Per my last entry, we had a busy year. So busy in fact that as I reviewed my photo files I completely forgot a wonderful visit to Madrid where we met our good friends Brittan and Terri. Neighbors from CA that love to travel as much as we do, if not more. So quickly here are a few shots from Madrid. It is a really beautiful city, the architecture is so varied and wonderful. Cannot post all the photos I took of buildings. Food was fantastic, and traveling with friends who know the city made it even better.

El Cortes Ingles is a large department store. In this location, the top floor contains a wonderful wine shop and a very hip food court.
Just one of the food court venders. They know tapas in Madrid
Brit and T, lovely couple. Love to travel with them. Hope to hook up again in 2020.
Evening dinner out in a plaza, Jan with Brit.

Now Brit is an authentic “foodie”, a great chef, and wine expert. So they took us to Sobrino de Botin, the oldest longest restaurant operating in one location. ( Guinness Book)

I will return to this place. Fantastic. Reservations required.
The Suckling pig was fantastic
Mercado de San Miguel, a great market area
Fresh fruit display at the Mercado
Anyone want a dried ham

Plaza Major was a great place. We actually saw the plane bringing in the Pres. of the Catalonian area fly over on his way to a meeting about Separation.

One of the bars off the Plaza, celebrating bull fighting in Spain. very impressive
So many buildings were wonderfully decorated. Hard to choose a favorite
Almost every dome in the city was adorned with an angel
I found this sign interesting, I feel with the number of refugees arriving and the havoc some have caused this sign may have come down.
Our hotel, great location, good choice Britt
